The proposal aims to attract attention to the existing highway infrastructure by increasing the usable vertical density around the bridges with recreational program, energy collection, and agricultural production. This is done by means of a high-density structural ceramic scaffolding, which provides support for walkways and platforms for people to occupy and enjoy clear vistas from underneath the bridge. The concentrating photovoltaic system is also supported by the structure and takes advantage of the increase in vertical area to produce more renewable energy. Each module in the system is composed of a Fresnel lens that tracks the sun and concentrates solar energy hundreds of times on to an small ultra-efficient PV cell. Additionally, towards the bottom of the structure, there are windspires attached to the structural members to take advantage of the higher air velocities just above the surface of the ground.
