| The entire programme is accommodated in one building. Together with MVRDV’s Silodam and the future Pontsteiger by Arons and Gelauff, this “grand urban gesture” completes the exceptional character of this part of the IJ. The parking spaces and the public facilities are accommodated in the urban plinth under the building. Rows of houses are included in the plinth on the eastern side. Above the plinth (11 m above ground level), there is a green communal area. The volume on top of the plinth has undergone various cuttings and “relocations”. In consequence, there is a view of the water from both the raised platform and from each housing unit. The proposal comprises sixteen housing types. (Competition date: January 08) |
