The classic public square will be redefined as an interior space that mimics the vitality and energy of the once prominent downtown that is now absent in many exurban communities. The square will become a crucial social condenser where people of all types will gather to socialize and engage with civic leaders and services. The City Hall will have new levels of transparency and unprecedented access to the public. The once closed City Council Chamber will now be liberated as it is prominently featured adjacent to the new public square. During these meetings and city news, video screens will also broadcast the feed throughout the mall. Various civic services will also have new storefront offices throughout the mall that will increase public convenience. Through the indeterminate nature of the mall typology, new offices can easily be added as retail stores leave or excess office space is present and must be rented out.
