Out From the Underpass
Not unlike other towns and cities, Everyville's character originates in the mythologies created around its darker side. Over time, the programmatic content of Everyville’s iconic overpasses begins to change; communal life emerges from the iniquitous shadows. As with any district of sin, the prosperity it brings soon engenders gentrification; the streets that originally brought the town’s dissolute commerce now realize their potential as frameworks for development. As the town matures, Everyville’s street names remain as emblematic traces of the town’s vice-laden origins that can never be entirely architecturalized away. The town’s transformation is no exercise in tedious morality or nostalgia; it is not the recreation of a lost ideal but rather the participatory regenesis of a unique civic sense.
