The decomissioned highway of Solar Park South is re-used as a linear Green Park for recreation and education about green energy. A bus loop route on the remaining old highway connects the important points of the park with the close-by communities along the coast.
The collected waste water from the WtE-facility and Spa (55m3/day) is treated and released into a small stream and a drip-irrigation system for greening of the park and consequent reduction of surface temperatures. By force of gravity, the water is naturally pulled through the whole Solar Park South from an approx. altitude of +375m to +145m above sea level before routing it to an existing waste water facility in the community of Scilla.
The tunnels in the Solar Park South are used for a Design Hotel and Plant Factories, where visitors can see and learn about the cultivation and growth of vegetables and plants in a controlled environment. All facilities are lightened by excess electricity produced by the WtE-facility.
