Museum of Teruel Teruel
The current Museum of Teruel plans to extend its exhibition spaces in the empty sites next to it and the 17th century Palace of Tosos. They are located in the historic centre of Teruel, in a very narrow pattern of streets. Our design deals with the three elements (current Museum, Tosos Palace, and the new design) as part of one single Museum. The narrow Ayora Street, between the current museum and the new intervention, will become visually part of the complex and its section will be the continuation of the ground floor of the new museum, saving its initial height difference of 3m. The museum will continue in the street and the street in the museum. The new building stays “open” to Ayora Street. The narrowness and the propitious orientation make possible its façade to be a glass wall, becoming an open section. The impressive stone facade of the current museum in the Ayora Street will be visual closing of all the new exhibition rooms.
