X-15: A BRAND NEW LIFE |
Merano (BZ), Italy |
|
The young couple owning this apartment wanted to completely re-think the space of the just bought house built in the 50’s because, as they said, the apartment had an old-fashioned look and “too many walls and doors” they actually didn’t need.
The entrance was not sun-lighted and particularly dark, the kitchen and living room were separated by a corridor and the bathroom needed to be enlarged.
The solution was to create a modern open-space ambient (getting rid of the existing walls) which completely changed the axis of the apartment allowing sunlight to cross the space at different times during the day. A brand new object (the “Frame”) painted in orange works as a separator between the “day-area” and the “night-area”, hosting a sliding door, niches, a small wardrobe and a storing space. As there was not much space to enlarge the bathroom, the existing walls were only lightly shifted and an aimed use of mirrors did the rest. |
