Our ambition was to consequently translate the psychological model, as type, throughout conversation with culture, context.
We made an abstract structural environment based on intrinsically basic conditions of load-bearing. The building is being interpreted as a city like environment, where ‘columns of hope’ serve the seemingly endless inner environment. Every masonry column is being interpreted and the structural characteristics of its material are being explored. The structure has an implicit ambition of being simultaneously ‘interior and street’, or ‘street exterior’, where the atmosphere between public and private is being blurred, and constantly adaptable throughout the structures existence.
The roof structure is an outcome of the forces of both context and abstract organisation, thus resulting in an environment with typical hierarchy, giving different meaning to what could be a court, garden, piazza, with the masonry minimal ‘column heart’.
