The “breathing ribbon” gets together 3 energy-capturing sistems:
1.Solyndra's panels employ cylindrical modules which capture sunlight across a 360-degree photovoltaic surface capable of converting direct, diffuse and reflected sunlight into electricity;
2.Sanyo’s panels HIT technology in which the Solar cell is composed of thin single crystalline Si wafer sandwiched by ultra-thin a-Si layers;
3.the Humdinger’s Windbelt relies on an aerodynamic phenomenon known as aeroelastic flutter, a useful and powerful mechanism for catching the wind at scales and costs beyond the reach of turbines. Windbelt uses a tensioned membrane undergoing a flutter oscillation to pull energy from the wind. It is integrated also into guardrail.
It's possible to capture water from Menta Dam and to stock it into cisterns in the tunnels, producing with its motion more energy.
We estimate power production of 1 km of breathing ribbon is the same of 30000 sqm of classic photovoltaic panels.
