The diamond necklace is an infrastructural spine. It collects and distributes solar energy to the surrounding communities. The available surface area of more than 60,000 m2 can easily provide 15 GWh annually. This is sufficient for all communities to profit from. Hollow construction spaces can be reused for the power grid, but also to function as aquaduct. The road descends more than 400 meters from Bagnara Calabra to Scilla. It can collect storm water from the surrounding hills and redirect it to the viaducts. Here the water can be temporarily stored and released into the sea. Supplementary replantation of vulnerable hill sides help to prevent the landslides the region suffers from. It will also help to improve the quality of the area. Trees continue along the viaducts creating elevated promenades which connect to the existing hike paths. Finally the lower viaduct road is connected at four points to the underlying local network, allowing communities to fully enjoy this symbol.
