In section, time is paused above the existing route for interaction with the solar technology. One may experiment with panel configurations, inhabit the solar park, view the tunnel light shows or participate in research exhibits. Below the A3 SHIFT, spaces are created for increased delay—experiential programs allow one to ‘try’ the technology, using its energy to spend a night, make a meal, taste wine or rest in a spa. Moments where the superimposed line collides with the existing roadway are conceived as interchanges of space, time and speed, allowing movement between lines: via vertical parking, bungee jumping, ramps, stairs and elevators.

By inserting the line along the highway, the dynamic nature inherent in the process of travel and embedded in the function of the roadway is shifted. The line breaks, houses, shelters, produces, shows, and moves -- providing a gradient of activities that breaks down the 10 km of roadway, creating destinations within the destination.
