structural column supported by tension cables,
which supports the cantilevered pergola inspired
sun-shading along with tensioned, perforated
canvas and photovoltaic cell arrays mounted to
the south side of the module. Concrete footings material
are to be used as foundations for the tension cables creating a
minimal site footprint. Helical windmills will be
implemented at the tops of each of these central
structural columns to utilize the prominent coastal
winds in this region. The green space spanning
ten kilometers of highway will utilize native
grasses, plantings and vine-like vegetation native
to Reggio Calabria. The plantings will also be
incorporated vertically along the cabling system
and the tensioned canvas allowing for growth on
the sunshade beams as well
