The continuous armature consists of prefabricated circular steel sections. The diameter ranges from 15m at the energy farms to 30m at the research laboratories.

The flexible armature holds various collector typologies, including PV panels, parabolic reflectors, and the latest prototypes by Parco Solare Sud scientists. Horizontal wind turbines exist were sun conditions are not optimal. 15m2 per LIN.m of surface area is available for sun collectors which produce 8MW: enough for 8000 homes.

Three floor Research Laboratories (3,600 m2 ea) are located between energy production farms and adjacent to a tunnel (used as a thermal battery). Each laboratory is connected to a bus stop/scenic overlook. A 2 story admin/visitor center is located near Scilla. An optional tower signals entry to Parco Solare Sud.

Former highway surface is now green corridor for enjoyment by pedestrians and cyclists. Service vehicles share the generous pavement as needed.

The cost for the project is ~42 MEUR.
