First the viaduct: a slow ascent from Scilla or Bagnara into the Cantabrian hills amid a naturalistic landscape. Among the grasses and cacti lie highly polished mirrors that seem to punch great mirage-like holes in the air. These perfect meetings of art and science imperceptibly concentrate solar power to create energy for the whole Park. Next the tunnel: cool and still, but otherwise a space that defies expectations. A field of tall crops, vast tanks of water with perfect inky reflections, rafts of lights that seem to float. Wondrous experiences but with serious intent, for these are also research facilities into 3rd generation bio-fuels like corn and algae. Another viaduct: the land beneath falls away. A series of steps shape the hillside, the sky above reflected back by great terraces of water. Elsewhere the seascape is shown back to itself by strata of Fresnel reflector arrays; working algae- and solar- farms offering themselves as Land Art on an epic scale in this Park of Mirrors.
