The A3 configures an intervention within the natural environment of the Costa Viola. Withdrawing its main purpose the intervention is facing its fate to be used as a symbol of rethinking our current social-ecological-systems. After extracting the its purpose, the structure of the A3 embodies a great potential as a basic structure for various redefined possibilities. And that is how we understand the off-service highway – A basic spine for contemporary & future possibilities In contradiction to its general appearance as a static structure, we redefine it to become dynamic and adaptable. To realize this aim we developed a dual-plan strategy for redefining the A3 This strategy simply contains two main actions: Plan A Spine Plan B Cluster Plan A Spine Highlight A straight line of cypresses imbedded into the structure of the coast-orientated-lane highlights the intervention & amplifies the artificial image of the highway within its natural context Please continue on page 02
