VAWT(vertical axis wind turbines) can also withstand
much higher winds, with this kind of model being rated
to withstand winds in excess of 140mph. At those wind
speeds most traditional Blade horizontal turbines would
break or suffer damage. VAWTs on the other hand can
continue to produce power even in those high wind
conditions without risk of damage if they are designed
and constructed properly.

the stronger the wind the more power
they will generate. In 11 mph annual
average winds, each Windspire will
generate approximately 2,000 kWhs a year.

Cost Guidlines

Cost of turbine £35,000
Cost of mast £3,950 - £6,150
depending on height and finish
Cost of controls £4,600 for
a single turbine, reducing for
multiple installations
Installation cost Around £3,500
- £6,500 per turbine depending
on the size and location
