Hanging garden homes a variety of plant species that, with botanical activities, offers visitors opportunity to acquire knowledge in sustainable gardening. In some places, it is equipped with shading prefabricated wooden structures below where visitors can find benches from which to enjoy the view. Over these, photovoltaic and solar panels, provide almost entirely the energetic requirements for the institute.
Continuing north, Brancato tunnel houses several conference halls; in Muro and Costa Mancusi tunnels, place respectively laboratories and multimedia classrooms. Filiciusi tunnel welcomes research laboratories. Other viaducts instead, can offer gardens that provide a large amount of “km 0 food”, cultivated under a rain recovery and rubbish recycling project, reducing CO2 emissions. These gardens follow new trend of “corporate garden” where ERRI employees can cultivate a vegetable gardens with “0 cost” and to use products of these.
Total cost is about € 25 million.
