| An attempt to revive the collaboration (1951) of Yoshiro Taniguchi and Isamu Noguchi in the modern age. The building maintains its outer shell only, and all partition walls and upper-level floor are removed, leaving an empty void, inside which white translucent cloth is used to reproduce the partition walls and the floor. That is, the previous ‘hard’ architectural elements are replaced with those translucent, soft and light. As a result, all elements (furniture, interior décor) emerge as a landscape under a white veil. Creation of such white, nebulous landscape reminiscent of a scene in a dream, would have elicited the material shape of past memories. |
