Born 1970 in Bolzano (I), studied landscape architecture in Munich, Rome and Berlin. Graduated 1997 with a thesis that won the Klaus Humpert Price, Stuttgart, for its innovative approach to urban planning. Since 1994 collaboration with different offices in Germany and Italy. In 1997, she settles in Amsterdam as a designer and project leader at Bureau B+B, stedebouw en landschapsarchitectuur. Runs her own office since 2001, moving back to Italy in 2004.
Interpreting and reinforcing landscapes and vital processes is the main issue in Helene Hölzl's projects. She works on all scales of green, urban and territorial planning. She made a number of publications in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Spain and won several prizes in international competitions. Since 2002, out of ethical reasons, she stopped participating in competitions and works on direct commission, in research and teaching.
