TENT HOUSE
Lima, Peru
This project is a beach house located 100km south of Lima, in a desert climate near the Pacific Ocean. Our aim was to create a building that answered to its specific location and use. Since the site is within a private beach club but distant from the shore, the experience of living on the beach had to be brought into the house. A simple beach tent gave us the clues for this project: a weightless horizontal plane projecting a shadow that creates a habitable space beneath it. The program is divided in two: private and social living. The first one is a highly functional ground level with a few vertical perforations, allowing for partial views of the surroundings and dimly lit rooms. This solid podium supports the social areas above it: a panoramic open space without internal divisions under a weightless plane.
