Lima, Peru - first prize
We were requested to adapt and abandoned house to host a travel agency. But the location of the project at an emblematic square and between two monumental buildings suggested us a much bigger task than the request itself: the opportunity to realize an urban reconfiguration. So we implanted in the project a series of operations which - in a security paranoid city like Lima, obsessed with privatizing every public space available – turned out to be distinctive: benches instead of enclosures, bigger setbacks form the street than required, sharing land for a needed pedestrian pass, a liquid plaza, etc. Finally, in a city where never rains, a low–tech urinal-like system to wash the facade... artificial rain from the cornice!
