The shoe is the modern design par excellence: an artefact made with great skill, an object that is transformed into desire. Dresses do not follow changes of the body, but shoes always cover the feet of those who buy them: maybe that’s why women adore Stuart Weitzman. When Stuart asked me to design the places where the shoes he designs are displayed, I immediately thought of precious boxes, wrapped ‘à la Christo’, like gifts for his customers, with a ribbon that continuously follows the surfaces of the space, indicating paths on which the shoes trace vectors of desire.
