The Living Park
Nynasgamn
The climate and morphological situation make the site liable to a number of exceptional climatic events such as flooding, heavy snowfall and icy winter. In addition to this, according to estimates, the site in 2100 would be reached by the rising sea level. The project, a public park, will adapt to various climatic situations flexibly just as a living organism would, producing a wide variety of diverse urban scenarios for the visitors: from skate park to snow park, from pond to skating rink and canoe polo basin. The park also serves to unite the urban fabric between the villages Nynäshamn and Estö, and the suture is achieved through a hierarchical structure of connections. This new approach reaches its maximum clarity with the flyover that creates a direct, linear and easy connection for pedestrians and cyclists, realizing a fluid landmark for a shared urban life that is functionally and environmentally integrated.
