almere - 2000
project for two floating pavilions, one for an architecture information centre and one for an archaeology information centre for almere (the netherlands) on the weerwater lake near the lumiere park. the two pavilions, being identical but mirrored, share their central section. all spaces inside are continuous, spiralling from the upper deck to the lower. the two connected pavilions enable a series of possible routes through history (archaeology) and future (architecture). as the two pavilions are floating, 16 different configurations of connection are possible, creating possibilities for cross discipline exhibitions and film screenings.
