Bire
Trieste
Bire is the biggest Italian homemade beerhouse (30 hectolitres per cooking) and one of the most important in Europe. The proposal comes out from an accurate reading of the existing volumes and materials: inner partition walls of recent construction are demolished in order to restore the original unity of space, the massive white stone of Trieste are brought to light such as the ceiling made of iron and brick, the wide windows on the waterfront are restored to the historical dimensions. An accurate choice of materials contributes to the creation of a suggestive but contemporary atmosphere that underlines the different functional areas: warm tones stones for the floor, bar and beer tanks in copper, dark reddish wood for tables, chairs and benches. Work and service areas are rational and functional meanwhile the bar and the buffet service are flexible and interchangeable within the use.
