The history of the plant underlines how, in the past, the industry had witnessed important socio-political events, a space dedicated not only to production but able to accomplish social and gathering functions. The renovation project reconnects to this public and participated character with the intention to emphasize its historical importance and relate it to contemporary needs, without transforming the building in a document-monument. The new complex will integrate residential, leisure, cultural and work functions that, thanks to an informal and young programme, will create a fertile ground, expression of creativity and innovation. The D.A.S.T. project will take place inside the western wing of the building in the shape of an integrated polifunctional centre, where design, science, technology and history find a common developing platform. The remaining part of the building expects the realization of a Creative Factory.
