The project Twin City Vienna-Bratislava is thinking ahead of the current reality, defining an urban vision of the optimal combination of two main cities. Vienna and Bratislava’s common metropolitan area is home to more than 3 million people. In the wider region “Central Europe” more than 6 million people are living. A metropolitan area of this size requires cross-border planning. Infrastructural considerations, the existing growth potential and the potential of transformations and urban processes are illustrated by simulations. In addition, the visualization of regional sub-centers, activity centers and existing green spaces are integrated in the processes. Thus, the channeling of growth is evident, which is designed to counteract urban sprawl.
