Metropolitan Forms of Living
_
Developed for a concrete site in Rotterdam, the project targets the spatial and social issues inevitably connected with highly dense agglomerations in a low-rise environment. It aims at leveraging the possibilities of generative design tools in order to find an alternative architectural model within the constraints of such settings. Two key aspects were driving the project’s formal development: Firstly the articulation of genotypes/phenotypes, which were conceived to be as insusceptible to any form of visual or audible noise as possible and, secondly, the development of massing patterns which could credibly cope with the monotony and repetitiveness of large field structures.
