Parametric Wall
Athens
The client wanted to showcase her collection of books and music in the main living space of the apartment. Due to the lack of available wall space and the need to accommodate a flat screen tv, an audio system and a firewall without dominating the space with a large, full height structure, the designers opted for a superimposition of both shelving system and appliances, along a narrow, horizontal strip of wall. The shelves adapt to the appliances that slip in front of them by expanding or contracting in width, simultaneously accommodating the organization of books and CDs. The structure is made by 101 different 2cm thick plywood pieces, cut by a CNC machine and clad in a gloss white formaica.
