Berlin Castle Humbold Forum
Berlin
Berlin Castle, seriously damaged by WWII has been torn down in 1950 by the Eastern Germany. The unified Germany of XXI century chose to make it born again settling inside it a huge forum of the cultures of the world. We faced a romantic and radical theme in a romantic and radical way. Berliner Schloss won't be born again as a castle, no longer existing since a too long time. Just its facades will rise again, completing the urban scene of Museuminsel, while in the big inner void a new independent and authentically modern building will rise, overtopping its fence and getting in visual dialog with the other presences on the island. A big organic shaped void starts from the underground hall and climbs up into the volume until the rooftop terrace, acting as a visual connection throughout the levels and giving differently articulated shapes to the plans.
