Tokyo - second prize
This is the optician made by white fabric. We must display simply and clearly more than 1000 glasses in the narrow space(50m2). We realized it is better that only glasses could be seen. So we covered all over the wall with white fabric and put the cuts in it, so that glasses are displayed by hanging on them without any glass cabinets which are generally used in many other opticians. The fabric is stretched and fixed by velcro tape on the frame taken out from the wall and is lighted up from the backside. Each cut is left as it is on which paint containing resin is printed as stitch holder in advance. So, this fabric display may be the background with no outline rather than the furniture because of its less detail. The only glasses are profiled simply and clearly against the white like snow. We won Good Design Award 2006 and the gold prize of JCD Design Award 2006.
