This is the competition project. Since the site was relatively small and the total floor area required was relatively big, all the entrants had to design a tall building. In order to avoid typical vertical core, we took one big core apart and got several slender vertical cores. Then we transformed each core into zigzag shape. Each floor has different arrangement of cores, which corresponds to the variety of the program. Every surface of cores is covered with colorful graphic. The color scheme of it came from the famous souvenir shop street connecting Kaminarimo Gate and the main temple. We hope that this become an icon corresponds both to the traditional culture of Asakusa and the contemporary culture of our time.
