Amsterdam - first prize
On 4 September 2009 the Wieringen Passage Master Plan won a major international architecture prize in Berlin: the LEAF AWARD 2009 in the category Master Planning and Landscaping. LEAF stands for Leading European Architects Forum. The Wieringen Passage Master Plan was awarded the prize for best European regional development project which protects the landscape and green space value of the area to be developed. The Wieringen Passage Master Plan was designed by Palmbout Urban Landscapes and Strootman Landscape Artists and is a public-private partnership involving the North Holland provincial authority, the local authorities of Wieringen and Wieringermeer, and Lago Wirense, a consortium formed by Boskalis and Volker Wessels Vastgoed.
