Dar Luz, GLOW 2008, International Forum of light
Einhoven - selected
In May 2008 we were invited to participate in GLOW 2008, “An International Forum of Light in Art and Architecture” in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Our proposal considered light as the main material and medium for spatial construction. We can define our piece as an interactive performance/installation which engaged the audience in an aural and visual event or “happening”. Light, sound, the supporting wood scaffold and the fabric veil played major roles in this theater; another major role was reserved for the public. We took a conceptual opposition to the notion of “Public Art” as simply installation of Art in public places. Loosely based on the theory of “social sculpture” defined by Joseph Beuys in 1973, we take the role of “public” in the creation of “public art” verbatim. Public art must engage the public actively. Therefore we propose that “Everyone is an artist”. In collaboration with Dr. Lars Meess Olsohn.
