International competition for a masterplan and for the new AMA (City environment company) offices A huge basemet follows the limits of the area, creating a suspended space over the city. Like some typical roman gardens, the Castel Sant’Angelo ones, or the villa Sciarra ones, the projects builds an architecture of the soil, a continuous basement which plays a role a the scale of the city, mediating between the built matter of the city, the idea of the “campagna romana” and the monumental scale of the EUR. The level of our “rampart” is the project gound level; it houses a public space, which re-builds an urban scene: the city looks at itself, creating new prospectical dynamics. The project is organized in a very simple way: the basement is divided into three “rooms” , following the example of the renaissance “villas”.
