The masterplan of the Campus de la Justicia in Madrid has two main principles to be respected: a garden with cylindrical buildings, in which each of those buildings is higly recognizable. For the Edificio del Registro Civil the main requests were: -to create an ideal working environement -to create a representative and recognizable place where to celebrate the weddings -to give a maximum visibility to the park and to the other buildings We found the answer to all those goals in the “void”: a high quality space, deifined by the architecture, which is fluid, continuous, representative and bright. The formal possibilities of the cylinder have been explored, bringing to an extreme point the dialogue between the built matter and the void space. The shape of the cylinder is suggested, without being completely built.
