Magok waterfornt park
Seoul, South Korea
The double concept of the design overlays a highly artificial urban structure which takes its roots in the city, with an organic landscape inspired from the image of the Han river. The high humidity and the wide water surface of the Han river inspires a topography born out of the image of concentrically circles left on the surface of the water by the raindrops. The park will host a botanical garden, a central lake, a convention center, an open air swimming pool, a rainwater reservoir and a yacht marina. The circular floodgate building by the banks of the river will also serve as a boat terminal for passenger ferries and it will become a landmark indicating the park’s most symbolic entrance.
