The project is a part of the IBA Hamburg program for the 2013. The suburban quartier of the thirties will be the new center of the Wilhelmsburg district. This quarter is experiencing an influx of people from extra-european parts of the world and with them come other needs and other styles of life. The behaviour of the existing population is also changing, particularly in view of current developmens to towards an expression of greater individuality, and with increased leisure time and shifts in social structures. We propose for the quarter a mixed-used project that is a part of rethinking-process in urban planning. The project foresees the refurbishment of the former houses with new living spaces that widen the surfaces of the existing apartments as required from changed life-styles, new residential units, open spaces renovation and new functions at the ground floor that raise job occasions for the inhabitants and attract people.
