The project brief asked for wide variety of programmes such as a cultural centre, retail, gastronomy, housing, offices and parking facilities in the very centre of this quaint Austrian city next to the river Inn. Our proposal stems from the ambition to develop the new volumes as connectors between currently disparate parts of the city- the building starts as the extension of a new artificial landscape next to the river and forms a bridge over a street that dissects the site to then turn into a passage through a restructured shopping centre to finally reach one of the main squares of the city. This results in a morphology that hybridises all the different programmes and fosters rich relationships between them as well as to the different external conditions and areas.
