mti, the “mobile tourist interface” is a high tech version of the beloved camper van, meaning to address the issue of urban sprawl in areas of tourist activity. mti is a remedy against non-restricted development. instead of building more decentralized tourist ghettos, the units are implemented in the streetscapes of local villages. the extreme lightweight shell of the capsule, consisting of a high-tech composite material, does not require additional structural enforcement when attached to an existing building. as the interfaces can unfold, their impact is minimized during off-season, while at peek times they will provide shade and a comforting microclimate in the streets.
