The Loop - BUGA National Flower Show
Schwerin, Germany - mentioned
One of the basic natural laws is the circulation principal. Because of its distinct polarity the location of the Hopfenbruch-Park renders itself ideal for the eclectic concept of the loop: The nearby city-center of Schwerin on one hand and an intense urban condition and on the other the Medeweg lake an idyllic natural reserve. The proposed loop is introducing a ribbon like circulation tying these two poles together. The Buildings for the national flower show are temporary lightweight structures consisting of a polyethylene membrane on a metal frame that will illuminate the park at night. After the show these can be reused for sport or music events in the park. Two necessary suspended pylone bridges designed by urban environments in collaboration with Owe Arup mark the entrance and the exit of the park.
