SKUB is a school development and rebuilding project in Gentofte including alteration, extension and enlargement of 12 schools and after-school centres aiming to give the schools the possibility of adapting to a new structure and new principles of learning. We started out the design process for Ordrup Hall with an extensive research and participatory process with the secondary school, the primary school, the library and the local municipality. The users negotiated the boundaries between the physical and organizational environments. The final layout of this hybrid programmed building places the library and a main hallway in the middle of the building connecting them to the park and the outdoor sport facilities. On the ground level the hallway enables free circulation between the multifunctional spaces, the main sports hall and changing facilities. The project will be finished by the end of 2007.
