HOUSE OF SCIENCES
Bjerringbro, Denmark - first prize
The House of Sciences is a building for the future of pioneering Danish teaching and research in the natural scientific disciplines. The task is to create possibilities and inspiration in spectacular and innovative architectural frames. The building is shaped like a monolith made up of a number of geometrical transformations of a cylindrical shape. The round shape expresses simplicity, clarity, universality and entirety. The inner structure on the other hand is manifold and offers rich spatial experiences and connections. The contrasts meet the facade of the cylinder and penetrates it, creating visual contact to the city of Bjerringbro and the surrounding landscape.
