Installation proposal developed in 2004. The work explores the relationship between energy and space. A field of energy suspended in the darkness: several clusters of very small flames are all set at the same height (about 1.40 meters) appearing like flowers floating in the air. Reflected into the mirrored wall the clusters double up creating an ambiguous space. The flames are fed by small gas bottles, also painted black. Fire is primary source of energy (light and heat), symbol of alchemical transformations and destruction. Not often we engage with this element in our modern life, except as a simple remainder of the danger it can represent or as the way we transform food in order to feed ourselves and our children on our cooking facilities. Metaphor of soul and spirit in certain cultures, it also evokes images of faith and wars.
