A see-through building The essential spatial conditions for art education are a combination of neutral, quiet and well lighted learning spaces, and large collective spaces, which encourages discourse and social interaction between the students. We regard the circulation space as one of the most important collective spaces. It is after all on the corridors where the most immediate interaction takes place. Locating the corridors along the façades, around the learning spaces, results in a clear system of sunny pathways with beautiful views. It has however another very important effect: it exposed the dynamic activities and movements in the academy to the city – without compromising the privacy of the learning spaces. It is a see-through building. The walls between the corridors and the learning spaces are transparent, allowing light and views in both directions.
