positron array
positron array was a two part project centred around the total eclipse of the sun in August 1999. during the eclipse a lab was set up with video cameras, a vlf receiver and a sensory 'probe' to gather data from the environment during the eclipse. this data formed the basis of a live webcast, part of which was real time MIDI data generated by the probe which was remixed live by electronic musicians around the globe. the MIDI files and vlf recordings were then remixed and transplanted into an installation in Manchester as part of Digital Summer 99. a second probe was sited in the roof of the space and monitored atmospheric conditions around the space, using the data gathered to remix the data from the eclipse. janek schaefer's track, penumbral rover, from his album 'pulled under' uses samples from the installation. www.audioh.com
