Abstractmachine Hypertable
Centre Pompidou, Paris
The Abstractmachine Hypertable is a multipurpose interactive table which allows multiple users to interact with various audiovisual algorithms by simply placing their hands on the surface. Its designer, Douglas Edric Stanley, has used it in his own installation work, for example at the Pompidou Center in 2004, as well as with the design firm Opixido for a children’s exhibit on Little Red Riding Hood. The musical group “8=8” has also used the Hypertable for its collaborative abstract = ambient = breakcore = house = noise visual concerts. In 2005, Douglas Edric Stanley held a workshop at the Haute Ecole d'Arts Appliqués Genève, where several students invented new uses for the Hypertable.
