LOFT IN ROME
Rome - second prize
he brief for the refurbishment of a loft space for a notorius romanshowman in a former IACP building built in the thirties contained only few indications.A quirky procedure to select the winning architect out of a group which includedfriends and 'conoscenti'. The proposal is distinguished from the others for a cleararticulation of the space, which can be inscribed within Lorenzo's experience atZaha Hadid's office. In particular, the aim to achieve a spatial discontinuity bymeans of interconnecting devices and the plastic modulation of the walls are thefeatures that more closely reconnect this project to the research conducted within the London-based office. The interior space is deformed through pushing andpulling on the base of a controlled geometry that expands the perception ofthe boundary.
