Entrance for the Gardens of Castel Trauttmansdorff
Merano
In the late 90ies, a botanical garden was installed at the castle of Trauttmansdorff near Merano, with contributions of a large number of designers from all over the world. In the entrance area, the line along the neighbouring street demanded a special solution. The place should attract the attention of those who pass by and anticipate what is hidden in the gardens behind. The plan, elaborated within bureau B+B, includes a wall with huge steal vases as containers for temporary changing exhibition of plants. The background for this sculptural facade is a dense plantation of cypresses which cover the entire line. Inside the area the designers realized a field of perennial flowers with under more 20.000 black and white tulips.
