the design for a renovated interior atrium space was composed of a series of geometrically based garden elements and hedge rooms which progressively change in size over the length of the atrium. the hedges are formed by wood slat structures planted with vines. playing against the hedge rooms is a graduated series of fountains and planters that provide places for scientists to gather and share discoveries. their conversations are kept private by the muffling sound of spitting water that drop into the tile clad pools.
